OPI Burlesque: Haul & Photos!

I picked up a few bottles of OPI's Burlesque holiday collection a few days ago. Now I know what you are all thinking: I'm on a Project X Pan! Because I've been doing so well on my Project X Pan (14 items down so far!!), and the main purpose of my Project was to use up some makeup, I thought it was okay if I picked up a few polishes to incorporate into my Halloween costume this year.

Left to right: Bring on the Bling, Rising Star, Simmer and Shimmer, Show it and Glow It

Frankly, when I first heard about this collection, I was pissed. This does not say holiday to me. Sure, the collection is beautiful, but when I think "holiday" I think reds, greens, golds, and silvers with names involving the words "Santa", "Snow", and "Bells". I only get one OPI Holiday collection a year, so when a year is a flop, I'm upset.

Then we got these in at work. They may not scream Christmas, but wow, they are SO cool. The collection consists of 12 new shades: 6 glitters and 6 shimmers, all in beautiful jeweltone shades inspired by the upcoming movie Burlesque, starring Cher and Christina Aguilera. I picked up 3 glitters and one of the shimmer polishes.

Bring on the Bling: a gold glitter with very small doses of purple, silver, and green glitter as well. Overall, this looks gold on, but if you look closely you can see the extra colors. I wore this yesterday layered over Rising Star (shown below), and it looked so fabulous.

Simmer and Shimmer: a blue glitter that really didn't catch my eye at first. I'm not a huge blue nail polish fan, but after playing around with layering this one over other shades, I found that layering it over OPI's Purple With a Purpose (medium frosty purple), it turns a beautiful periwinkle shade. I fell in love with the combination immediately and was compelled to take it home with me.

Show it and Glow it: a purple glitter with sparse silver glitter mixed in. I thought this one would look really cool by itself or layered over my OPI Lincoln Park at Midnight. I'm a sucker for purple polishes.

Rising Star:
When I first saw this collection, I hated this polish. Brassy, rusty, frosty orange is not usually my color. It doesn't go well with my skin tone. However, it adds the perfect touch of warmth when layered under Bring on the Bling (shown above).

Those are the four I picked up! I think I'm going to wear the Bring on the Bling/Rising Star combination on my fingernails for Halloween, and I'm still decided which of the other two I want on my toes. I'm thinking Show it and Glow it. Expect some blinged out Nail of the Days in this blog's future!

What do you think of this collection? Did you pick up any of the Burlesque polishes?
xx, Allison

  1. I'm not a big fan of glitter polishes. Only because they are such a pain to get off! Shame too, those look lovely!

  2. I was severely disappointed with this collection!! I didn't pick up many opis from last years holiday collection. So I was extremely excited to this year, since last year they were pretty! Then I saw the burlesque collection, and was so mad! How could opi do this?! These are not holiday nail polishes, let alone any I would buy. Sorry for my rant, thought I think some of the glitters are pretty I will not be purchasing from this collection.

    WANT! SO. MUCH.

I'm a huge fan of glitter polishes.
I used to do a lot of colour fades/gradations with them. Though they are a pain to remove.
