Today's Nail of the Day is from Chanel's Spring 2011 collection, and it is a gorgeous dark shade called Black Pearl. This is one of the most beautiful polishes I have ever seen, and it really is one of those that you cannot appreciate until you see it in person/painted. I looked at photos of this online and thought "nothing special", saw it in store and thought "pretty", painted it and thought "OMFG". It's just that beautiful.
natural light, 2 coatsThe shade truly is the color of a black pearl, so it really isn't black at all, but more of a deep grey with a subtle deep green reflect in it. This was a really hard one to photograph, because it wants to look like a solid, dull grey in photos, but I think I managed to catch a bit of the green reflect for the photo in this post.
As expected for a $23 nail polish (my first Chanel... ouch!), consistency was good and it only took 2 coats to get a nice, opaque finish. I have a feeling this is going to become a year-round staple for me!
