Nail of the Day: Revlon Grape Icy

Today's NOTD is Revlon's Grape Icy, and it's special because it is SCENTED. Yes, you read that right. Scented nail polish. Revlon has released a line of nail polishes for Spring/Summer 2011 with all different scents. This one in particular smells like grapes.

I plan on doing a video review on this product, because I have a lot of thoughts about it. For starters, it does actually smell like the bottle says it will, after it dries. I couldn't pick up any grape while I was actually painting my nails. I think it's a little odd that Revlon is promoting scented nail polish though... doesn't the smell of nail polish fumes kill brain cells? I know you aren't supposed to smell it until it's dry, but I was totally huffing this stuff while painting my nails trying to see if I could smell grape. Hmmm.

This polish applied very evenly and doesn't chip easily (yay!). It is on the sheer side though, it actually looks a little jelly-ish to me. I used two coats for the photo above, and you can clearly see there is still a few sheer spots.

Overall, I'm really impressed with this polish. I have already gotten multiple compliments from strangers on it, and I think it will be great for Spring/Summer.

  1. I am a sucker for purples but i prefer the darker or rich tones. so idk if id wear it. but it looks great on you. i will have to check out the other shades (scents?) they have.

  4. I don't like the idea of scented polishes. Like you mentioned I think a lot of people will be sniffing up the fumes from their polish bottle. Doesn't matter what the instrutions say, our curiosity will get the better of us XD.

  5. Haha, I totally tried sniffing the polish when I was painting mine, just like you! And I found myself consciously smelling the nail polish on my nails when it was dry! :) The colour looks good you!

  9. I have gumdrop from Revlons 2010 spring collection and it smells like gummy candies when it dries. My boyfriend loves it! lol

  12. i was purusing the isles of the drugstore and found these. the cotton candy color is very beautiful neutral. you can barely smell it with a top coat, but the color is gorgeous. you like neutrals just wanted to let you know :)
