While visiting my mom this weekend, I took advantage of the shopping opportunities the city offers and picked up Benefit's new Bella Bamba blush. I have been eyeing this for months now and really wanted to see/swatch it in person before deciding whether or not to purchase it. I went to Ulta and found it, and it was love at first swatch.

Benefit switched up their standard box powder packaging for this release (and will be following suit with all of their other box powders) by attaching the lid so it flips up and has a mirror inside. When I first heard about this I thought I wouldn't like it, but really I have found it to be a lot easier than trying to keep track of a loose lid like the old boxed powders.

One of the biggest disappointments with this blush is the fact that it contains much less product than the other Benefit boxed powders. They downsized this one from the standard 12 grams in their other powders to only 8 grams, but for the same price ($28). It's still a lot of product, I just hate when companies do things like this!

The powder also comes with a small applicator brush, that really isn't half bad. I will be using my MAC 129 to apply this, but in a pinch it could get the job done. I noticed that this brush is more full/soft/rounded than the brushes that come with other boxed powders. Maybe they've stepped up their brush quality a little?

The pigmentation is excellent and the color is strangely "special" for a pink. I'm not entirely sure what it is, but something about this blush is a little different than your average pink blush. Maybe the "3D" technology Benefit claims it has really works! It has a bit of shimmer to it, but once applied onto the skin it is hardly noticeable.

love the color but it's too shimmery for me, and i usually breakout when i use a product that has shimmer.

looks very pretty, sad it's pricey
ReplyDeleteIt really does look so pretty, but yeah definitely way too expensive for me.
ReplyDeleteGreat review Allison and totally loving your bracelets :)

ReplyDeleteGreat revier, very thorough and detailed!
The blush will look stunning on you!
Natalie x :)
I'm soooo glad I tried this on first. I love the colour but it looked a bit too pink on me so I saved my money:D I usually don't buy from Benefit anyway, they are very cheeky with their prices!
ReplyDeleteWow nice colour! I'm not so keen on the benefit packaging though and they're quite expensive
ReplyDeletelove it and it is on my wishlist to get for the summer!
ReplyDeleteOn my Benefit Box Powder, which is Georgia, it says 11 g. ? Does yours say 12 g., cause that would be really wierd..
ReplyDeleteGreat post, I checked Bella Bamba at my Benefit counter, and it's not for me. :-)
Wow, this is a really bright fuschia-type pink. Too much for me, despite having tan skin. But I still hate the packaging. Yeah, the little box is cute. But it's stiff cardboard, and square. Unless someone develops a square brush, I would think you'd end up with a circle down the center of the pan, and be left with four triangles of product on the side. Like, huh? I just don't understand how this would be the most efficient, customer-friendly packaging for a whopping $28.
ReplyDeleteWow looks great maybe one day I will give it a try maybe if the price goes
ReplyDeleteDown! Thanks for the review :)
Im soo tempted to try this one out but, when I was at Sephora it looked kinda flat on me =( I have tanned/olive skin-I wish it was pinkier, but might have to give it another try after reading your blog =)) why is it called 3D?? The chick at Sephora said bc it changes color, I don't believe that, do u think it does??
