Hard Candy Hide & Glow Cheek Tint Duos: Review & Swatches!

A couple weeks ago I picked up a few new Hard Candy products (check out the haul post here), and among those were their new Hide & Glow Cheek Tint duos. These come in three different colors, and because I have an unhealthy compulsion to buy all cheek products I see, I thought I would try them out. I'm always looking to find a good blush in something other than traditional powder-pan form.

Left to right: In Love, Hot Date, Pillow Talk

The lightest of the duos is called In Love and offers two coral pink shades. This was the duo that caught my eye most in store, but when I got it home and swatched it, I was disappointed with just how sheer it is. This barely shows up on my skin even when heavily applied, and because it is a cream substance, my skin will only absorb it more throughout the day, taking what little color there was. I would only recommend this if you have very fair skin and don't like a lot of color on your cheeks. The photo below is of very heavy swatches.

The next duo is Pillow Talk and offers two true pink shades. Fortunately, this duo was more pigmented than the first, and I really like the colors. They are pretty alone but would also work as great bases to be set with pink powder blushes.

The last duo is the darkest of shade offerings from the three, called Hot Date. I thought this one may be a little dark for me, but the shades are definitely sheer enough for a light to medium skin tone to wear, yet buildable enough for a deep medium skin tone as well. These are very red-toned, and also look great alone or under a powder blush.

Hot Date: top end, bottom end

These duos remind me a lot of the NARS Multiple Tints, but for a much more affordable price. The swatches you see are very heavy though... when applied normally on the cheek they are more sheer, more "tint"-ish. I just swatches these heavier so you could really see what the color actually was. One of my disappointments with these though were the amount of product you get. I feel like there isn't much offered for each color, but then again they are only $6 compared to NARS Multiple Tints that are much more expensive.

As far as wearability goes, I found that the two darker duos wore pretty well, yet I would not consider them to be all-day blushes unless you set them with a powder.

Overall consensus: Pretty colors and worth a try if you like the idea of a cheek tint, but if you are just looking for blush in a stick, I would check out the NYC Blushable Creme Sticks that retail for $2-3 and are fantastically pigmented!

xx, Allison
