I really like the matte plaid part of the packaging, but I think it is really annoying that you cannot actually see the lipstick, as the top of the cap is covered with a plastic piece that is supposedly an exact match to the lipstick itself. Now I will say that the top of the cap is actually really accurate to the color inside, but I still like to see the actual product before I buy, and these come plastic wrapped or taped so you can't. Another disadvantage to the colored lid top is it makes it hard to tell what the lipstick finish is (frosty, matte, pearlescent, etc.).
I have found that these lipsticks are very moisturizing and creamy. They come in a variety of finishes, but all of them apply very smoothly to the lips. The formulation reminds me a lot of the MAC Cremesheen lipsticks (my favorite from MAC!).
One thing I'm not entirely crazy about with these it the shape of the lipstick at the top. It isn't your traditional cut that comes to a point and widens from there, but instead has a very wide point at the top, which makes it harder to apply product to areas requiring more precision. For me, this is my cupid's bow area and corners of my lips. This isn't a huge inconvenience, but one I noticed right away. I do really like the "REVLON" imprint in the product though!
Overall, I would recommend these lipsticks. The packaging/design of them certainly has a few flaws, but as far as the actual product, I think it is fantastic for the price. I find that the wearing time is similar to that of a MAC Cremesheen lipstick (3 hours), so I wouldn't necessarily look to these for something super long wearing (try Revlon Matte lipsticks for that!), but for a good everyday color I think this line has a lot to offer.
On a side note, 3 of the lipsticks shown in this post, Pink Sugar, Icy Nude, and Candy Pink, are all from the new Revlon Spring 2011 line, so check individual displays for those if you head out to find them!
And now, swatches! :)

i love love love soft nude, but i add sephora's baby pink gloss over it for a slightly different look. i just got soft rose for my v-day look and love that as well! i think the revlon lip products are such a steal!

ReplyDeletei have the colour 'peach', i'm not so sure if it could be found in US coz i live in asia!
when i first saw the lipstick after twisting it out, i thought it was likely to dry out my lips....but after i put that on my lips, it was soooooooooooooooooo creamy and moisturizing <3<3!
i really want to have that 'soft nude' now but this colour is not available in my place ><
Pity!/_\
i love the matte plaid packaging as well. but, the good thing is, where i live, all these lipsticks had testers. :)

ReplyDelete@-B
ReplyDeleteI love soft nude as well. I also have icy nude, soft rose and petal. Petal is my favorite. Its such a pretty pinky color with a slight gold undertone. I like these as much as I like Mac cremesheens.
After all those revlon products you reviewed I'm seriously thinking of buying some :) I've been searching quite a while for a nice nude lipstick and I think Soft Nude or Pink Sugar could fit my needs!
ReplyDeleteI only own the 'Fuschia' one and I love it! So creamy. Applies like a dream. x
ReplyDeleteMauve is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteAfter the hype, I picked up Revlon's famous Pink Pout lipstick. Personally, I'm not a fan of the clear top, and much prefer this type of packaging. The colours look gorgeous, and I will definitely be picking some of these up. I love Soft Nude, Pink Sugar, and Mauve.
ReplyDeleteHow much do these retail for?
Great post!
xxxx
I have a ton of lipstick in this line went crazy and bought a bunch of them when they first came out. I have soft nude, lilac, baby pink, peach, true red, raspberry and some others... don't remember but they are pretty nice.
ReplyDeleteOooh Candy Pink is gorgeous! I went into Boots today and spent an eternity looking at lip products, had to peel myself away in the end. Nice post :)
ReplyDeletethe color blush looks amazing, you should definently pick it up!
ReplyDeleteOh, Icy Nude looks a lot like Viva Glam V (my all-time favorite). I think I need to pick it up for comparison purposes!
ReplyDeleteI adore the color Blush from this line! The next time you are wondering around Wal-Mart you should check it out :)
ReplyDeleteI have "Blush" from this line, which I wear most days. Very durable and moisturising lippy!
ReplyDeleteI was so excited to get a few of these shades but when I tryed out Pink Sugar, It felt gritty on my lips.. Has anyone had the same problem? I dont know maybe its just me? The lip sticks with shimmer in them I find feel gritty on my lips. I love the matte colors they are creamy on the lips.
ReplyDeleteIm sorry, I ment Icy Nude not Pink Sugar . Sorry guys.
ReplyDeleteWow Soft Rose looks amazing! I need to get my hands on that one
ReplyDeleteI really like the look of Pink Sugar, and Soft nude! What's a mac dupe for Soft Nude? Like creme d nude?
ReplyDelete@Diane: Yes it does feel a little gritty. But i dont really have any problems with Carnation which is the one i bought for my mother (:
