Revlon Matte Lipsticks: Swatches & Review

Attention ladies and gentleman, I have found my favorite drugstore lipstick. While dabbling around and trying out new drugstore lip products a few weeks ago, I picked up a Revlon Matte lipstick without even realizing I had just found my new soulmate. The one I picked up was Pink Pout, and I loved it so much that I went back a week later and bought 5 more lipsticks from their Matte line. Yes, they are THAT good.


I tend to shy away from matte lipsticks because they always seem to look chalky and accentuate any dryness your lips may have. These lipsticks don't do that! They are the most moisturizing matte lipsticks I have tried, and the longest wearing lipstick I have tried from any brand, not including special "long wear" staining formulas. This lipstick wears 4-5 hours on me, easily, with the occasional sip from a water bottle, etc. That is a long time for me, considering most non-long-wearing lipsticks always seem to be nonexistent after 3 hours tops.

I decided to take some photos and do some swatches of these for any of you interested, seeing as these lipsticks are plastic wrapped in most drugstores and it is always hard to tell what the colors look like!

I highly, highly recommend these if you are looking for a good matte lipstick. For the price, they really are hard to beat! What is your favorite drugstore lipstick?

  1. My favorite are Wet n' Wild's Silk Finish Lipsticks. I have never tried Revlon's Matte Lipsticks, but they look really nice and I trust your opinion. I love how sleek the packaging is and it reminds me of MAC. Do they twist all the way down in the tube? I need Pink Pout and Mauve it Over! :D Thanks Allison!

  15. I want to try these but I'm still scared they'll be drying :/ They're super lustrous ones are drying on me but their Colorburst ones are my FAVORITE!

  16. I actually purchased Pink Pout and hated it! The color was a little too dark and dusty looking, and it looked awful! Even after scrubbing and moisturizing my lips, the lipstick made my lips chap up again and it accentuated the lines on my lips. I want to try Revlon's matte red lipstick, but I don't know if it will work any better than Pink Pout.

  20. I just got Pink Pout and love it!! Definitely reminds me of MAC lipsticks. After seeing your swatches and trying Pink Pout I will buy more Revlon Matte Lipstick! Although it is kind of difficult since they don't sell them in the country I live.. Long live the world wide web!

  22. I love Natural Collection lipsticks from Boots! You can't get them in America, so I guess I shouldn't be telling you this but they are SUPER cheap (like €2.99!) and AMAZING quality!! My favourite is Pink Orchid, I wear it almost every day!
