Nail of the Day: Essie Sand Tropez

Attention bloggers: I have found the most opaque nude polish, ever (in my experience). Allow me to introduce Essie's "Sand Tropez", a gorgeous light taupe-y nude that gives almost complete coverage in ONE coat. I could not believe my eyes. Usually, nude polishes require at least 3 coats (sometimes 4) for an opaque finish, but this one offered almost-complete coverage in just one. It actually was entirely opaque on a few nails in one coat, but I did an extra coat to bring the rest up to speed.

natural light, 2 coats

One thing I really love about this color is its shade. Most nudes have a beige/pink/peach tone to them (OPI Tickle My France-y, OPI Samoan Sand, Essie Topless & Barefoot), but this polish has a unique taupe-y "greige" accent to it. I am in love.

Sand Tropez is from Essie's French Affair collection for Spring 2011. Would you wear it?

Monday Questionnaire: March 28th, 2011

Hello bloggers! These weeks fly by so fast I don't even feel like I have anything new to say since last week. My eyes are feeling a lot better, but now I've caught some bronchitis-like cold that has left me with a gross cough and sore throat. Yuck. On to the questions!

A friend and I spent a few hours in the studios on campus today recording a radio broadcast for a class project. How now brown cow?

OPI Touring America Collection for Fall 2011: OMG.

So I stumbled across a delightful piece of information today... OPI's fall 2011 collection and photo. Please excuse me while I have a heart attack.

"Fall is a long way away, but we're so excited for this collection, we couldn't keep the colors hidden! OPI's fall collection Touring America is not only loaded with to die for deep hues, it also has one of the most exciting & adventurous stories behind it, which you'll hear over the coming months!" -OPI

Row 1: Uh Oh Roll Down The Window, Honk If You Love OPI, A Taupe The Space Needle, French Quarter For Your Thoughts, Get In The Expresso Lane, & Road House Blues.

Row 2: Suzi Takes The Wheel, I Brake For Manicures, Are We There Yet?, Color To Dine For, I Eat Mainly Lobster & My Address is Hollywood

This collection is featuring 12 new shades, and I am absolutely thrilled by the color selection. It's like an entire collection of neutral/taupe/grunge/dark colors that seem to scarcely appear in other OPI collections. Additionally, the names are fantastic. A Taupe the Space Needle? Yes, please.

What do you think?

Nail of the Day: Rimmel Bare Naked

Today's NOTD is Rimmel's Bare Naked: a peach-toned nude with a subtle shimmer to it. This polish is from their Lasting Finish PRO line, which claims it can last up to 10 days. Now I won't be testing that theory because I'm pretty sure I would go insane with the same color on my nails for 10 days, but it's a nice idea. I like this color because of the warm tint... the peach tint is a nice twist on the classic nude. The shimmer is practically unnoticeable, however, so on the nails you really get the appearance of a creme. This applied really evenly and well... I did three coats just to be on the safe side, but two was pretty opaque.

natural light, 3 coats

Would you wear it?

Beauty Wishlist: March 2011

Hey everyone! I did a Beauty Wishlist post last month talking about products/things I have been eyeing recently, and I thought it was a really fun post because all of you let me know what you've been eyeing too down in the comments. I decided to do another one this month!

1.) Lush "It's Raining Men" shower gel: I have been wanting to try this ever since I saw Elle (AllThatGlitters21 on YouTube) mention this in one of her videos. It is the same scent as Lush's famous "Honey I Washed The Kids" soap (which I love), but in a shower gel. It has been sold out on the Lush website lately, so I'm hoping to pick up a small bottle when I'm in New York next month... no Lush stores in my city :(

Monday Questionnaire: March 14th, 2011

Hi everyone! I almost didn't realize it was Monday today (that's the beauty of Spring Break!), but apparently it is time for another questionnaire! I'm still recovering from the LASIK surgery, and things are going well so far. I read 20/15 at the optometrist this morning and the discomfort is starting to go away. I can't wait to feel 100% again so I can spend more time on the computer (YouTube, blogging, etc.). Thank you to everyone who has been so supportive and thoughtful the last few days!

I've been dedicating about an hour a day trying to learn the choreography to the routines in the movie Burlesque. I'm having such a blast, and it is one of the few activities that for some reason doesn't tire my eyes... just the rest of my body! ♥

MAC Jeanius: The Blushes!

Hello everyone! As I'm sure many of you already know, MAC recently released a new collection called Jeanius, inspired by denim. The collection features a variety of products including eyeshadows, blushes, lipsticks, and lip glosses. Unfortunately, I was pretty disappointed with the color selection for most of the products, but the two blushes really caught my eye.

Monday Questionnaire: March 7th, 2011

Hi everyone! I know I've taken the whole week off from blogging, but I'm back and ready to viciously get back into it again. Even with a week-long break I've really started to miss it! Plus, I'm going have plenty of downtime post-LASIK to work on posts! For that reason, today's questionnaire is going to include an extra question at the end...

This is the photo I'm taking to my hairstylist to get my color done! So excited!
