Make Up For Ever Aqua Creams: Review & Swatches

Today I am welcoming a new brand to this blog, Make Up For Ever. I recently bought my first batch of MUFE products at IMATS LA (watch the haul here!), because I've always heard amazing things about their products. Their Aqua Creams are some of the most raved about because they are a multi-purpose cream product (much like MAC Paint Pots) that is long-wearing and comes in a variety of colors.

I bought these with the idea of using them as an eyeshadow base. I have quite a few light-toned cream bases, but no dark neutral bases, so I thought these would be perfect. I asked the MUFE artist if these crease on the eyes, and he explained that they are crease-proof because they are silicon based instead of oil based. The silicon is also what gives them their lasting power.

These products retail for $22 each and contain 6g of product. However, if you live near an IMATS show, you can purchase these at the event for 20% off (that goes for all of MUFE products!).

I've been wearing shade 15 as a base the last couple of days and it stays all day and doesn't crease at all. Looks like the MUFE artist was right! The formulation is much thinner than the MAC Paint Pots; Paint Pots are much more thick/pasty to the touch and the Aqua Creams are very silky thin and smooth. They are extremely opaque though! Now for swatches:

Overall, I would highly recommend these if you are looking for a good base and have the money to spend on it. MUFE offers a wider variety of shades in their Aqua Creams compared to most cosmetics companies, so if you have been looking for a certain shade of cream shadow, it's definitely worth checking out.

Now the final question I feel I have to answer: MAC Paint Pots or MUFE Aqua Creams?

Aqua Creams are more opaque, which draws me to them, but as far as which formula I prefer to apply, Paint Pots win. I'll always be a MAC girl at heart. ♥

  1. Ooo they look really lovely, especially 15. And 17 would look amazing layered for a darker night-time eye!

  5. I actually did love these, I have one in shade 12 which MeganHeartsMakeup was the one who drew me to those! lol but I went to the pool yesterday and wore it, it DID NOT crease! At all, it was very nice, even though it was not as shiny or great looking as it would look at first but it did it's job pretty well. I'm impressed and excited to get more of these, even though I do have to get them for the regular price at Sephora... lol

  7. don't be too biased! to others, the MUFE's quality might just be better regardless of mac loyalty. even if the paint pots apply better doesn't mean they are. great swatchess :)

  11. I still remember my first MUFE Aqua cream eyeshadow I bought 2 online because I was not sure how they will work n I fall in love after that I started to collect them one in a time now I have nine of them my advice to you is to skip the lip colors they r very drying but the e\s r awesome they can be used alone as a cream eyeshadow and it will look gorgeous or as a base, I use them as eyeshadow all over the lid then mix them with powder e\s the blend very well

  12. They look really pretty. I don't own any MAC or Make Up Forever products because they're not sold in my country, but I'm in love with those creamy products right now. I've already decided to buy some MAC Paint Pots while in Italy this summer! :)

  13. In my opinion the MUFE Aqua Creams are easier to blend with your finger than paint pots and they are waterproof. But MUFE is not sold in Germany so I prefer MAC Paintpots :)
