Urban Decay has released a brand new eyeshadow palette for their 15th Anniversary, and holy smokes, you all better hold on to your hats. This palette features 15 brand new full size Urban Decay eyeshadows and is cased in an eloquent, mirrored and jeweled box fit for a princess.
Notice the cutout detailing on the sides.
And jeweled UD on the top.
The lid of this palette comes off completely to reveal 15 eyeshadows (shaped the same way as shadows in the Naked palette), surrounded by hot pink reflective casing. I am really impressed with the wide color range in this palette; it offers light neutrals, dark neutrals, and brights... something for everyone! I think that people who felt the Naked palette was a little too subdued will love this one.
Fourteen of the shades are a frost/shimmer/glitter finish, and the one matte shade is a true black, called Blackout.
As expected, these shades swatch nicely and are beautiful on the skin. The only shade I can sense some trouble from is Midnight Rodeo, which like all other "Midnight" shades has some glittery fallout that can be hard to contain. My favorite shades are Midnight 15, Flow, Omen, Deep End, Ace, and Half Truth.
The palette itself came in a dark purple velvet box to hold it. Fancy!
At $55, this palette definitely has a significant price tag, but once you break down everything you are getting with it, you can see it is literally a steal in the world of Urban Decay products. 15 full size eyeshadows retail individually for $17, which means this palette holds $255 worth of Urban Decay eyeshadows. This doesn't take into account the quality of the box it comes in either. You are virtually paying less than $4 per eyeshadow and getting the box "for free".
I love the color selection, but I only have one complaint: I wish Urban Decay had thrown in a matte light neutral. With a lot of these shades, I'm definitely going to be wanting a matte highlight (as I don't like to be too frosty). Aside from that though, I am really impressed with the color selection.
As far as availability goes, if you want this palette anytime in the near future, you are going to have to keep a sharp eye out for it. I woke up at an ungodly hour the morning Urban Decay released it on their website to snatch it before it sold out within three hours. It went up on Ulta.com today and I am willing to bet it will be sold out by tonight. This is going to be like the Naked palette all over again, so if you really want it, check your online sites and keep in touch with your local beauty stores. When they get in stock, they are going to go fast!
