Nail of the Day: OPI Suzi Loves Cowboys

Today's NOTD is OPI Suzi Loves Cowboys, a dark creme shade from their Texas collection released earlier this year. I love this shade because it is one of the few dark brown cremes I have seen; I feel like dark browns are usually shimmery/frosty. This is a touch lighter than Essie's Little Brown Dress, which I like because it certainly looks brown, not black. The formulation on this is good too, and I think it is an all-around great dark neutral polish for fall.

natural light, 2 coats

Do you like brown nail polish?
xx, Allison

  1. I absolutely love this color! I've been looking for a good brown, and this is perfect! I'm definitely adding it to my wish list. Now I just need a good light warm brown and I'll be over the moon :)

  7. Every NOTD I marvel at how beautifully painted your nails are. What base coat, top coat and any other polish do you use to make them so shiny?

  8. If you like brown polishes, you should try out Essie's Hot Coco. I got it last year and LOVED it! I couldn't wait for fall so I could start wearing it again. It is a little lighter than the OPI polish you just talked about, but it has no sparkle, frost, or sheen. It's lovely. And it's part of their permanent collection so you're almost certain to find it.

  9. Try Essie's Hot Coco for a lighter brown : )

  10. I don't really like brown nail polish. It's strange because I love every color except brown nails, but I like it on your nails. Like someone else said, your nails really do look beautifully painted in all of your NOTD posts. I usually wind up with a few paint streaks around my cuticles.

  13. Thanks! I use the Seche Base base coat, and then either Seche Vite or Sally Hansen Mega Shine top coat. These two top coats are unusually thick and therefore glossier than any other top coat on the market that I've tried (including OPI, Essie, etc.). They are a MUST for me... I like my nails glossy enough that I can see my reflection in them! ;)

I also use OPI Nail Envy treatment, which is a polish I paint on before everything else that makes my nails super strong and keeps them healthy! Hope this helps!

  14. Practice I guess? I used to be absolutely horrific at painting my nails, and then once my nail polish addiction kicked in, I was painting my nails so often that somewhere along the way I just got more precise at doing it. Practice makes (almost) perfect! :)

  17. I always love your NOTDs! I started to really get into nailpolish about 2 yrs ago (thanks, YouTube), and I'd heard a lot about Essie Mink Muffs. When I got it for myself (it was my first brown polish), I didn't really like it, so I never tried it again. I decided to try it again this week, and I love it! It's so funny how our tastes change...now I can't wait to try a few more browns.

  18. Wow. Nice! I have both Essie's little brown dress and Hot coco and this seems to be just in the middle. Might justify another polish ;)
