For starters, the brush colors are baby blue and pink. It's like Easter in a brush set. Additionally, this set is vegan, which means it is made with synthetic bristles (which is also where it gets it's "Bunny" name from-- animal friendly!). This set comes with 7 travel sized brushes: 3 face brushes and 4 eyes brushes. All of the brushes are models of Sigma's permanent brushes, but reformulated with synthetic bristles.
The three face brushes included in this set are the F30 (all over powder), F40 (angled blush), and F60 (foundation). The hairs are incredibly soft!
The four eye brushes included in this set are the E40 (tapered blending-- my favorite!!), E55 (eye shader), E30 (pencil), and E65 (small angled). The Sigma E40 is my all time favorite blending brush, so I was really excited to try it out in a new synthetic version.
Now to be honest, what drew me to these brushes was how soft they looked and the color scheme. I think they are overall very appealing looking. However, I was slightly skeptical at how well they would perform vs. their natural hair counterparts, because synthetics usually don't perform as well with powders (they are usually meant for creams). When I tried these for the first time and found that they not only picked up and applied powders well, they-- dare I say it-- worked BETTER than my natural haired Sigma brushes, I was floored. I've never seen synthetics work like this! To sum it up, they are definitely powder-friendly.
This kit also comes in one of Sigma's classic hard cases, in baby blue!
Overall, if you are looking to try out some new brushes or are in the market for vegan brushes, these are definitely worth your while. However, if you already own some Sigma brushes, you aren't going to be getting any new brush styles with this set. It's really a matter of what you are looking for! I personally think they are a wonderful addition to my already hoarder-status collection.
This set retails for $59 and can be purchased on Sigma's website!
Do you have a preference between natural and synthetic brushes?
xx, Allison

Hi Allison I have a question, between the New York City Travel set and the Mrs. Bunny Travel set, wich one do you like the best???
ReplyDeleteI'm getting the Mr. Bunny set for Christmas, this will be my first "professional" brush set. I'm so excited!
ReplyDeletehey i have a question wasnt sigma supposed to have a "cyber monday special on december 13 " i was wondering because i havent seen anything yet.
ReplyDeleteHi Love, would you recommend this as a good "starter" set? Or do you think one would be better off buying a few individual brushes? (say ones mentioned in your latest video, lol). While I am super happy they bunnies are safe, I don't HAVE to shop vegan, but it doesn't seem to be much more expensive then the other travel set,, even with the added bunny saving bonus.
ReplyDeleteThis set is so cute! Mrs. Bunny is a perfect name for it. Hope you will enter my holiday giveaway!! http://lovelo.wordpress.com/2011/12/08/giveaway-be-a-bombshell-cosmetics-holiday-giveaway/
ReplyDeleteI asked for the 12 piece set for Christmas! I'm really glad to hear you liked them so much!!
ReplyDeleteDoes the pencil brush still work as well as a natural haired one? I am thinking of getting either the 7 or 12 piece set, not because I'm vegan but because I LOVE the colours, and I really want the pencil brush to be good, since it is one I'm really interested in. (I'd just go to a MAC counter and get one there, but here a MAC pencil is $69 and I'm not paying that much for one brush!!)
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you review these because I've been wondering about the quality. Maybe Santa will bring them to me, he knows I've been good. Either that or one of the reindeers will get kidnapped.
ReplyDeleteAdorable coloured handles! I just bought my sigma professional kit from the black friday sale, so I won't be getting any new brushes just yet. However I am really interested in getting some real techniques brushes. Since you liked them and I feel like the fact that Sam from pixiwoo created those brushes means quality guaranteed! <3
ReplyDeleteI do prefer vegan friendly brushes though :)

The only problem I have with this is the price... I know it is important to have good quality brushes, but what is wrong with the t.j. maxx ones that are 1/3 of the price?
ReplyDeleteI'm interested in buying the new 'Bunny' brushes, not only because it's vegan but since it's made from the Sigmax filament, i'm sure the quality will be even better than the regular ones :)
ReplyDeleteThis is too cute for words!!! :D

i know that they are travel sized, but what exactly does that entail? are they shorter in height or have less dense bristles? I thought that they were standard full sized brushes.
ReplyDeleteyou should do a sigma giveaway! im short on money and i keep drooling over these brushes and the bunny full set :) especially since im quite new to makeup and really need quality brushes. you are an amazing guru by the way! :D
ReplyDeleteI finally caved in and bought the make me cool set the DAY BEFORE this set was released. I adore the sigmax brushes and really wish I had been able to get this or the Mr. Bunny set in the same order...
ReplyDeletehi allison! i was just wondering if this travel case can also fit regular sized brushes. thank you!!! :)
ReplyDeletethanks for this review i wanted to know the comparison of the original make me blush and mr. bunny collection i think i might go with the bunny
