MyGlam Bag: December 2011

Happy New Year everyone! I wanted to do a quick post about MyGlam, a new beauty subscription service. This launched last month, and I instantly signed up after realizing it was created by YouTube beauty blogger Michelle Phan! I'm always up to try something a fellow YouTuber has created, and at only $10 a month I figured it was worth a shot! As with most beauty subscription services, MyGlam promises deluxe product samples selected based on your beauty interests.

Each month's MyGlam comes with a cosmetic bag and 4-5 deluxe product samples. The first bag I got was a pretty satin striped bag, and I was very impressed with the samples! Inside I found:
  • NYX Soft Matte lip cream
  • FULL SIZE Urban Decay eyeshadow in Sin
  • mini Urban Decay primer potion
  • mini Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes! mascara
  • Mai Couture oil-blotting sheets
  • Mai Couture blush sample
For ten bucks, I think this is pretty awesome! The full size Urban Decay eyeshadow alone retails for $17, so I'm definitely pleased. I will continue to subscribe to this service! On a related note, I cancelled my Birchbox subscription a few days ago: I was becoming less and less impressed with the samples and it was taking until the last week of the month for me to receive my box anyway (slow shipping I guess). I'm happy that I've found another beauty box that seems to fit my interests more!

Do you subscribe to any beauty boxes?
xx, Allison

  1. I was debating whether to go with Birchbox or MyGlam as well.
I think MyGlam will be a bit more personable and have items that most of us can use or purchase that's reasonable priced. That's amazing the UDPP is full sized!

  2. I really like the idea of putting the samples into a make-up bag instead of a plain box! I'm subscribed to something very simular to birchbox (called glossybox, it's basically the european version of birchbox) and I don't know what to do with all the boxes!

  3. I am totally thinking about subscribing to MyGlam! I was going to at the beginning of December, but decided until January to subscribe. I wish I had though, b/c last months items seemed amazing! I will not subscribe to Birchbox. They're items seem like only a certain type of person can use them. And these items in MyGlam are more for everyone.

  4. I was a member of birchbox but I cancelled that after only two months. I signed up to get the MyGlam January bag so I am very excited to get it, and I think I will like MyGlam a lot more than birchbox

  5. I cancelled birchbox in November. I was tired of getting oils and more oils. This one is what I wish birchbox had been. If it continues to be good, I may have to sign up. Please keep doing posts on it.

  6. Hi Allison,
I know you live in the States, but I was wondering if you have any ideas as to like a My Glam for Canadians because I see all these monthly subscription things like My Glam, BirchBox, JewelMint, etc and none of them ship internationally. I would be really nice if there were any out there that did. Thanks anyway.

  8. The bag itself is super adorable. Plus what great products you have inside. Like others have said, continue to do posts on this so that we can see if we'd like to subscribe! Happy New Year! :)

  9. I subscribed to MyGlam and I'm so excited to see the future bags!

I've been so disappointed in Birchbox lately! I finally cancelled my account because I didn't even receive my December box. They made it up by refunding my $10 and giving me 200 points.

  13. I don't, but I'm not opposed to it. I had though about joining Birchbox, but I've seen so many videos/blog posts about people not being happy with their samples, so I scrapped it. $10 definitely is a good price, though, and your products all sound great!

  14. Thanks for the links! I tried the LooseButton luxebox and I wasn't very impressed, but I'll definitely check out the other two. :)

  15. I wanted to get this! I don't have my own credit card though, and i'm not making my own money yet.. I really wish I had bought it though, everything is so worth it!

  16. I'm subscribed to this box as well! The only problem was they messed up my shipping address, and they sent it to my fiance's house because he bought it for me as a gift, and they used his billing address. But, I was very impressed with their selection. I hope they continue to have great bags and that their quality does not worsen as the time goes on, like Brichbox.

  22. I am currently subscribed to Birchbox, and although I like the two boxes I have received so far, I might just have to try MyGlam. How could you pass up a full size Urban Decay eyeshadow?

  24. I felt the same way about birchbox! I had a subscription for about 4 months and then cancelled. I didn't enjoy any of the products they were sending me:/ My glam bag seems really awesome though! I think I might sign up:)

  25. I recently subscribed to My Glam, too and I am very impressed! I hope that the quality of items included continues to be this great. I see a lot of people becoming less and less satisfied with their Birchbox so I am glad that there are other subscription services available.

  26. There are actually quite a few beauty box subs. that ship to Canada. Try googling.

  27. I am thinking about cancelling BirchBox too. I keep getting samples I don't or can't enjoy. I signed up for Eco-Emi, which packs a lot more each month, all organic, Eco-friendly products. I love it so far!!!

  28. Hmmm....well everyone was singing the praises of Birch Box and now it seems as though they have nothing interesting to off. I think I will wait to see if people are still excited about this service a few months into the year before I subscribe. I am tired of jumping on the newest hottest thing bandwagon only for it to fall flat after a few deliveries.

  29. I canceled my BirchBox subscription a while ago. This sounds more up my alley, I'll definitely check it out. Thanks for the post! Happy New Year!

  31. i totally agree with you about birchbox...i cancelled my subscription as well because I was dissapointed just about every month. I subbed to myglam and can't wait to get my first one this month :)

  32. This looks amazing! Great products in a cute make-up bag, I wish they had this in The Netherlands. We have Glossybox now, but when I saw the reviews I wasn't really impressed.

  35. I want to try the my glam bag but I'm waiting to see if the bags are still good in a few months, the first one seemed great but if the quality of the products go down, I don't want to join. I have birchbox now and it seems like sometimes I get good things (laura gellar bronzer) but mostly every month I get a perfume sample and I'm tired of it. If my glam bag keeps this high quality of samples I'll switch.

  36. This looks amazing, getting a full sized UD eyeshadow is so good!

  37. I use my empty Birchboxes as drawer dividers (instead of buying those plastic organizers) They're pretty sturdy so they're good for organizing...or you can cover them in wrapping paper & use them to give someone a gift!

  38. I cancelled my BirchBox suscription a few months ago as well. It just wasn't worth it anymore considering the samples that I was receiving were really random and not things that I was excited over. This sounds like a beauty subscription service that I would like muuch more, so thanks once again for more awesome advice and suggestions! You have never steered me wrong so far, Allison! :)

  39. I get the GlossyBox in the UK, but that bag looks so much better! Do you know if it will be expanding internationally anytime soon? :)
