It's the end of May, which means it is time again for MAC to release a beach/summer/nautical themed collection. For at least the last four years, MAC has launched a large summer collection on Memorial Day weekend, and this year's Hey, Sailor! release is no exception. With a wide selection of products with nautical packaging and names, I was definitely tempted at first, but had to really see the collection person before deciding to grab a few things. One of the items I purchased is the blush in Fleet Fast.
For starters, I quite like the packaging of this collection. I think the navy and stripe combination is very fitting for the theme without being overly obnoxious.
Fleet Fast is the darker of the two regular blushes in this launch. I would describe it as a muted red-coral with a slight hint of pink. If you look closely, you can see this shade has a light golden shimmer to it. Because this is a satin finish, the shimmer is almost unnoticeable.
Now for a swatch! The pigmentation of this blush is similar to other "satin" finish powders from MAC: not as pigmented as frosts or mattes, but still easy to build up. I think the color is absolutely beautiful on the skin, and it is a nice, subdued red/coral color for those with lighter complexions. However, this color is buildable enough that medium skin tones should have no problem wearing it as well.
This product contains 6g/0.21oz of powder and retails for $21. I didn't realize that the price of special packaged products have all increased a dollar (regular blushes are $20), and I'm a bit disappointed. MAC seems to be raising their prices more and more frequently these days, which is a shame. One thing I've always loved about MAC is that even though they are classified as a "high end" brand, their prices are typically much lower than fellow department store brands like Chanel, Dior, and NARS.
Overall, I think this blush is a fantastic color for the summer season ahead, and I'm very pleased with this purchase. The formulation/pigmentation/wear isn't anything new or exciting, but it is a nice blush if you are looking to try a new shade.
Did you get anything from Hey, Sailor!?
xx, Allison
P.S. I will be posting a video haul of everything I picked up on this trip to MAC very soon on
my YouTube beauty channel! Stay tuned! :)
This collection came out a bit earlier in the UK, I was tempted by a bronzer but decided to skip it because I wasn't sure! May have to revisit the blushes tho!
