MAC Cleanse Off Oil: Review & Demo!

Today I wanted to share one of my favorite makeup removers, the MAC Cleanse Off Oil.  This is an oil based liquid that can be applied to the face to dissolve makeup and remove it.  I used to be someone who used makeup wipes or an eye makeup remover to help get my makeup off at night, but ever since I've started using this, I will never go back!  This product comes in a clear bottle with a pump dispenser, and is really easy to use.

To give you an idea of how effortlessly this removes makeup, I applied red lipstick and black mascara (some of the toughest products to remove) on my skin.  With something like a makeup wipe or eye makeup remover, I would usually have to rub a bit to break down this kind of product.

With less than a single pump of the Cleanse Off Oil, this product dissolves with ease.  No scrubbing, rubbing or hassle.  It just melts everything off.

The especially nice thing about this product is it rinses clean off of the skin (no oily residue), and you don't need any extra cleanser to get the makeup off.  The photo below was taken 30 seconds after the photo above, all I did was run my arm under water and pat it dry!  I still recommend using a cleanser after this product, as the Cleanse Off Oil doesn't clean dirt out of pores or anything.  Also, I think this would be fine for oily skin types, especially if you use your normal cleanser afterward.  This is called an oil, but it doesn't feel especially oily on the skin.  It is a watery oil.

I think Cleanse Off Oil is most useful for people who use really gentle facial cleansers that don't remove makeup well.  It makes it easy to really get your makeup off of the skin without using harsh cleansers.    Also, if you wear waterproof or long-lasting makeup, or just really bright/dark colors, this would be great for removing it.  Oh, and it smells good too!

This product retails for $26 (5 fl. oz).  MAC does offer this in a travel size of 1 fl. oz. for $10, but frankly I think the travel size is a complete rip off, considering you get five times the amount of product in the full size for 2.5 times the price.

What is your favorite makeup remover?
xx, Allison

  1. I'm for sure going to try this next!

  2. Best makeup cleansing oil that I've tried (and I've tried the MAC one) is Missha Perfect BB Deep Cleansing Oil

  3. Two days after using this MAC cleanser off oil, i severely broke out with big cystic acnes.. I don't get blemishes except before periods, but this let's say was clearly rulled out. I'm guessing 98% this makeup remover i started using made me break out.. Anyone ever had acnes because of using this?

  4. I use baby oil to take off my makeup. Works like a dream!
