Today's featured product is the last item I grabbed from the MAC Hey, Sailor! Collection. This is the To The Beach Body Oil in Seaside, a ultra-shimmer body oil meant to give the skin a glistening sheen. MAC first released this formula (but not this shade) with the To The Beach collection two years ago, and I've always assumed it would be a really messy product. The idea of a body oil with sparkle sounds disastrous. However, when I was at the MAC counter recently, I decided to try it out in store.
Seaside is a very light neutral base with silver sparkle in it. MAC offers a darker color with the Hey, Sailor! collection as well, but I thought this would suit my fair complexion better. Below is a photo of how it looks before blended into my skin. This product comes with a pump applicator, with allows for easy dispensing.
I was really happy with how this looked and felt after blending into my skin. I had expected it to be messy and sticky, but it was quite the opposite. The shimmer was noticeable, but not overdone, and the product actually felt moisturizing. MAC advertised it as moisturizing, but I didn't actually think it would be. It made my skin feel really soft and smooth!
Overall, I'm pleasantly surprised by how much I like this product. It is simple and subtle enough to wear without looking like a clown, and I think I will get a lot of use out of it this summer. I personally plan to wear this on my arms, legs, and chest. It is way too shimmery for all over the face, in my opinion, but I suppose you could use it sparingly as a face highlighter too.
This retails for $22.50 (1.7 fl. oz) and can be purchased right now wherever MAC cosmetics are sold.
