LUSH Angels On Bare Skin Facial Cleanser: Photos + Review!

Today's featured product is the LUSH Angels On Bare Skin facial cleanser.  This is described as a "skin balancing lavender, rose, and ground almond scrub, perfect for all skin types."  This is the first facial cleanser from LUSH I've ever tried, so I was really curious to see how it worked.  I've had several of my readers recommend this to me, raving about it, so I expected a pleasant experience.

Angels On Bare Skin is a solid facial cleanser that is meant to be mixed with water to form a paste.  Sounds simple enough, right?  Wrong.  This cleanser was a disaster for me.  I scooped out a little bit of the product and mixed it with water, but got more of a wet chunky sand-like mixture than a paste.  I proceeded to scrub it on my face, and it was the most awkward thing ever.  It was like rubbing wet sandy clay chunks around my face.

I don't know if I am doing something wrong, but I cannot get this cleanser to work for me.  I know a lot of you out there love it (and it has fantastic reviews on the LUSH website), so I'm hoping you guys can give me some tips/tricks on how to make this work!  Until then, this product won't be getting any love from me.  I think this is the first LUSH product I've ever tried that has been a flat-out fail... sad day!

Because I haven't gotten this product to really work well for me, it is hard to review its actual cleansing ability.  However, it didn't irritate my skin or break me out, so I feel okay experimenting with it until I find the best way to use it.

On a side note, LUSH has a recycling system similar to the MAC "Back to MAC" program: if you bring back five black pots, you can get a free fresh face mask.  I love when companies do stuff like that!

Have you used this product?  How did it work for you?
xx, Allison

  1. Hi Allison, I've had some what of trouble with this cleanser as well but I think I found my solution yesterday. I put a small chunk of in the palm of my hand, run a little but of hot water on it, and then just work my fingers into it. Lastly, I gently work it onto my face with my finger tips. :) I hope you found it helpful!

  2. Pretty much what Ana said. Don't mix it with water, just add a bit to soften it up. I think of it more as an exfoliator when it comes do how to use it. There's a video on the lush website. I actually had someone at the store show me. After that I loved it.

  3. I love this product! The trick is to use a pea sized amount & only add a little water - rub it in your hands then use on skin which is already wet! I have a review of this on my blog too! I would be honoured if you had the time to have a read :)
