I stopped by Rite Aid yesterday and discovered a new line of limited edition Maybelline Color Tattoo Eyeshadows in their Fall 2012 "Scene on the Runway" collection! The release features four new earthy shades, including a light shimmery nude... yay!
Also, Maybelline is promoting two of their permanent colors with this release: Audacious Asphalt and Bad to the Bronze. These are being featured on the limited edition display, but are in fact permanent, so be careful not to snatch them again if you may already have them!
The four new colors are Barely Beige (light shimmery nude), Gold Shimmer (deep honey gold), Mossy Green (moss green... yeah that name wasn't too clever), and Rich Mahogany (deep shimmery brown). I love this color selection, especially for fall.

Mossy Green, Rich Mahogany
These shadows have the same consistency as the other Color Tattoos shadows. They are exceptionally creamy, pigmented, and longwearing. I love these shadows because they work very similarly to MAC Paint Pots and Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadows... they don't crease and are great as primers/bases! As you can see below, Barely Beige is almost exactly my skin color, which will make it perfect for an everyday eyeshadow base.

Now for specific color comparisons with the permanent collection. Here is Bad to the Bronze (permanent) next to the new Rich Mahogany. While at a glance in store these may seem very similar, you can see that Rich Mahogany is much darker.
Bad to the Bronze, Rich Mahogany
On the skin, you can see the Bad to the Bronze is a lighter, cool bronze, and Rich Mahogany is a deep brown.

Other similar shades are Bold Gold (permanent) and the new Gold Shimmer. Here you can see that Bold Gold is more of a lighter, true gold, while Gold Shimmer is more of a deep brown-gold.
Bold Gold, Gold Shimmer
Here are the two swatched: Bold Gold is definitely lighter on the skin, and more gold. Gold Shimmer appears very bronze-gold on the skin.

I managed to snap a photo on my phone of what the store display looked like! There should be more displays released for this collection, including new eyeshadow palettes, blushes, and nail polishes. Also, you can see in the bottom left of the display, Audacious Asphalt and Bad to the Bronze are featured, but again, these are permanent colors.
Sadly, these are limited edition. You may not be able to see in the photo above, but all of these shadows came wrapped in a special plastic that had "Limited Edition" stamped all over it. I'm a little bummed that these more natural shades won't be permanent, because I feel the permanent range is lacking earthy tones. If you want these shades, I recommend snatching them up sooner rather than later.
Overall, I think this release is perfect for fall, and features some much needed shades for the Color Tattoo line. My favorite colors from the Scene on the Runway collection are Barely Beige and Mossy Green. I've seen promo photos of another limited edition launch of Color Tattoo eyeshadows in jewel tones, but haven't found them in store yet. I'll be keeping an eye out for those as well!
These shadows were $6 at Rite Aid, but with the current BOGO 50% Off Maybelline sale, I scored all 4 of these for $20!
What do you think of this release? Do you plan on getting anything?
xx, Allison

I love the look of mossy green! Hopefully these limited edition shades will make it to Australia! We only recently (the last two months) just got the permanent shades in stock! :(
ReplyDeleteCan you please do a tutorial with the mossy green, because I love the color but wouldn't know how to wear it :/

ReplyDeleteWhat is the name of the lipstick you're wearing in your profile photo? Its really pretty and you look fierce! :)
DeleteCould Barely Beige be a possible dupe for Mac's bare study paint pot? It looks like it could be, at least in the jar it does.
ReplyDeleteI have been looking for these for 3 days :( guess they are not out in the Philly area yet :(
ReplyDeletefinally found them! :)
ReplyDeleteCan you let us know when they become available at Walgreens or Target? I live in Chicago and unfortunately we don't have a Rite Aid. :(
ReplyDeleteI found barely beige at ulta. It was mixed in with the permanent collection, but I saw it was light and grabbed it. I live in PA and have only seen this one at ULTA. Drugstores seem to run a few weeks to a month behind the LA area if you live on the east coast. Just an observation.
ReplyDeleteI love your videos and blog posts! Can you please make a tutorial on some of the new color tattoos?!
ReplyDelete-thanks Allison! :)<3
