Today's featured product is the oh-so-famous NARS Laguna bronzer. "I've never heard of it," said no one ever. I know this is raved about excessively in the beauty blogosphere, but it really is an amazing product. I re-stocked my stash with a new one recently, so I thought I'd snap some photos and do a proper review.
I would say that Laguna is on the light-medium side of the bronzer spectrum, and thus more suitable for complexions leaning lighter, rather than darker. While it is hard to see in the pan, this powder has a very subtle shimmer to it. I usually prefer matte bronzers, but the shimmer in this is so subtle that I really don't mind it. It makes the product a little more versatile, because I can get away with using this for both contouring and adding a bit of faux tan to my face.
One reason I think this bronzer is so popular is the smooth formulation. Like most NARS powders, Laguna applies and blends onto the skin really nicely, which is especially important to avoid bronzer MFS (Muddy Face Syndrome) (yes, I just made that up). I also like that Laguna doesn't look orange at all on my skin. As you can see below, it has a very faint shimmer to it.
NARS Laguna contains .28 oz/8g of product and retails for $34. To give you a comparison, Benefit Hoola contains the same amount of product and retails for $28. MAC Bronzing Powder contains .35 oz/10g of product and sells for $24. When stacked against bronzers from similar companies, NARS Laguna is on the more expensive side.
If you are picky about your bronzers and are willing to splurge on this product, I recommend it! There is a reason NARS Laguna is so raved about, so chances are you will probably like it too. However, I have found bronzers that are much more affordable that I think work well also, like NYC Sunny!
