One of my most-loved products lately has been the NARS Alhambra eyeshadow duo. This is one of those compacts that I use on-and-off, but it contains some of my favorite shadows in my collection.
Both colors in this duo are great everyday neutrals. For my light complexion, these are wonderfully subtle, while making my eyes glow. The left shade is a pinky champagne, and the right is a golden nude.
These shadows have a beautiful sheen to them, which make them great for highlighting areas of the eye. I like using the left side on my lid, inner corner, and brow, then using the right side on my lower lashline. I find gold on my lower lashline always brightens my eyes!
Additionally, I would say that the quality of NARS eyeshadows are probably the best I have used (followed closely by Urban Decay, MAC, and Inglot). What I find so unique about NARS shadows is they are buttery, and have virtually zero crumble to them.
NARS eyeshadows come in rubberized black compact casing. I love the design of these compacts: there is a good product-to-casing ratio (as in, not an enormous case with a tiny little pot of product in it). Additionally, a full-size lid mirror is in each compact. The downside of these is that the rubberized finish attracts every fingerprint and fleck of makeup. They get dirty very quickly.
NARS eyeshadow duos retail for $34 (.14 oz/4g). While this is pretty expensive, I think a lot of people don't realize that the NARS dollar-to-weight ratio beats many of its competitors. NARS eyeshadows (in duo form) are technically less expensive than both MAC and Urban Decay.
- NARS: $34/4g = $8.50 per gram ($244 per ounce)
- MAC: $15/1.5g = $10 per gram ($300 per ounce)
- Urban Decay: $18/1.5g = $12 per gram ($360 per ounce)
Something to keep in mind when deciding whether or not to splurge!
If you are looking for some great light neutral colors, I can't say enough good things about this eyeshadow duo. I highly recommend it!
