NARS Blush in Douceur: Review + Swatch!

Today I wanted to share one of my favorite neutral blushes, NARS Douceur.  This is one of my go-to natural cheek colors, and I love that the color is so subtle on the skin that it goes with everything.

I would describe Douceur as a dusty pink-brown.  It is on the warmer side, but not noticeably so.  I find that this is a perfect blush for my winter skin, because it isn't too dark or bright when I'm a bit pale.

Douceur has a matte finish, which adds to how natural it looks on the skin.  This really is one of those blushes that someone wouldn't be able to tell you are wearing, in a good way!  It just looks natural, like a subtle flush.  If you are new to blush or overall intimidated by it, this is a great one to start with!  It reminds me a lot of my first blush, MAC Tenderling, though Tenderling is lighter.

NARS blushes come in rubberized black compact casing.  I love the design of these compacts: there is a good product-to-casing ratio (as in, not an enormous case with a tiny little pot of product in it).  Additionally, a full-size lid mirror is in each compact.  The downside of these is that the rubberized finish attracts every fingerprint and fleck of makeup.  They get dirty very quickly.

NARS blushes retail for $28 (0.16 oz/ 4.8 g) and can be purchased wherever NARS cosmetics are sold.

Overall, I recommend this one for light to medium complexions... it would probably fade into the natural skin color on anything darker.  The formulation is smooth and it wears well.  This would work well for a no-nonsense school/office sort of look.

What is your favorite "natural" blush?
xx, Allison
